Library Lusting.

This week’s space is somewhat of a cross between Library Lusting and SnowPorn; we have all of the wintry goodness of one, coupled with the literary beauty of the other.  This room is a neat little mix of rugged, rustic charm, with just enough of each element to keep it minimal and yet still comfortable at the same time.  That’s a hard combination to achieve.  And c’mon…snow, a stout little potbelly stove, and books just go together like peanut butter and jelly.  Give me a hot cup of coffee and I’m set.  Let the daydreams commence.

How sparse is too sparse?  How minimal can a room be before it becomes sterile and utterly devoid of comfort?  That’s a fine line, and it’s different for us all.  This week’s space is my kind of space (I do love them all, though); clean lines, minimal elements, and large windows.  The perfect way to be mindful of the present; the perfect space to clear your head, gather your thoughts, and enjoy the endless beauty beyond the windows.  Let the daydreams commence.

Light your fire, grab your coffee (or wine), snag your book…and cozy up to the warmth of this week’s great wintry space.

Storytime Saturday, featuring an excerpt from an as yet nameless tale.

Take a gander, if you’d like, and let me know what you think.  Happy weekend; stay creative.

He rode slowly and haughtily toward the beast; his approach was strewn with pride at felling such a mighty animal. The others rode the clearing, picking off the last of the exhausted herd, and he reached the animal as it writhed its last frenetic movements. The beast lay dying, an arrow through its chest, drawing its last breaths. He watched the king dismount and walk toward him with knife drawn. His last view consisted of the king, knife in hand, approaching him and drawing the glistening blade across his neck, thus finishing the job. The hunt was over, and the men cheered with pride at their success.

The camp was ripe with the talk of the day; bold stories intermixed with tall fables resounded over the group, and each man enjoyed his share of the well cooked venison. The fires simmered and the king made his rounds with the men, hearing each man’s tale with a warm smile and a ready ear.

Sometimes you just crave comfort; the ability to sit back, kick the feet up, and just chill.  This week’s space is that kind of place.  It’s got that quiet, subdued, organic, laid back vibe that would mesh well with sunny afternoons, dreary rainy days, and every day in between.  It’s got just enough rough hewn elements to give it some edge, and just enough comfort tones to make you want to dive right in.  The tidy little book collection doesn’t hurt either.  Let the daydreams commence.
