Peaceful.  Some rooms exude it….some don’t.  This week’s space lives up to every meaning of the word.  It features many of the usual modern architectural elements; large windows, unobtrusive furnishings, and a sharpness to detail that highlights the interior design as much as the surroundings outside.  Great architecture incorporates both sides of the coin and blends the two seamlessly, and it works here.  It’s quiet, rustic, simple, and the rich wooden hues add a warmth to contrast the frost outside.  Give me some coffee, and I’m there (although I’d still be there even if I didn’t have coffee).  Let the daydreams commence.

Spectacular views.  That about sums it up for this week’s space.  I’m almost tempted to close it up with that…but not yet.  The enormity of the floor to ceiling glass beautifully exposes the sheer immensity of the mountains crawling up the surrounding countryside.  Views like that just tend to put every single thing into perspective.  Ok, now I’m finished….take a moment to enjoy the view.  Let the daydreams commence

Coffee and snow; two things that pair excellently.  By themselves, they’re great…throw in a kick ass wintry view, and the stock rises exponentially.  This week’s space would be the perfect way to enjoy both of them…and then some.  Large, airy cooking space, a wood fired stove…a lovely little place to eat, and off to the corner, a small comfort nook to sit and reflect (and guzzle that coffee).  Mornings here would most certainly recharge the soul.  Let the daydreams commence

Some spaces try do a lot with a little, while others attempt to accomplish the minimal…and end up over doing it.  Others meet that fine balance at the halfway mark.  I’d like to think that this week’s space is up to the task of achieving that desired balance.  Clean lines meet warm comfort, and that sweet spot is complemented gently by a quaint little fire and just enough open window to give the owners a perfect glimpse of winter.  Serve me up a cup of coffee and I’m there.  Let the daydreams commence.

How sparse is too sparse?  How minimal can a room be before it becomes sterile and utterly devoid of comfort?  That’s a fine line, and it’s different for us all.  This week’s space is my kind of space (I do love them all, though); clean lines, minimal elements, and large windows.  The perfect way to be mindful of the present; the perfect space to clear your head, gather your thoughts, and enjoy the endless beauty beyond the windows.  Let the daydreams commence.
