Some rooms are cozy…some are minimally sparse…some evoke peace, some exude class…others just make you want to get down to business. This week’s space would inspire me to get all old school and break out the typewriter (yes, typewriter), light the ol’ pipe, throw a few ice cubes in the tumbler, and get to work. It’s a slightly cramped, lived in space, but it’s that worn ambiance that gives it a dose of true character. This room has seen and heard many stories; this room has life. This week’s space says a lot, without having to say too much. And in that vein, I won’t say too much about it. A space like this has the visual power to speak for itself, in its clean, unobstructed lines, a sparseness that opens up the room and allows it to breathe in the ample sunlight, and a layout that positively emphasizes the remaining surrounding elements. And not to mention, there’s a beautiful nook dedicated to the owner’s impressive book collection. That’s the cherry on top. Let the daydreams commence.

This week’s space conjures up a tropical vibe, and I’d say that it’s more than just the addition of the potted plant that contributes to that ambiance. It could be just me, but I’m reminded of a warm, sunlit terrace on a summer afternoon…surrounded by an ocean of books. It’s a great space, with a few clever parallels; the heavy, rustic elements play very well alongside the fragility of the books, and the sunlight adds a splash of color that gives life to the dense, cold stone. It’s a nice, tidy, quiet space to sit alone and collect the thoughts. This is indeed a book lover’s room…let the daydreams commence.

When it comes to SnowPorn, I don’t normally feature exteriors; however, this particular photo spoke to me. And what it said was pretty good. It spoke to me in the cold, craggy beauty of the rugged mountains lining the horizon. Who wouldn’t love that view, right? It spoke to me in the sparse, uncomplicated strength displayed in the solitary, minimal structure. It says so much with so little…and what it says shines. Let the daydreams commence.
