“Why does man exist?” I was just writing something about this, from a different angle, and then I came across your post featuring Tarkovsky. That’s a good clip—I relate to his “art is life” thesis. Thanks! 🙂

He’s got a very interesting and deep creative (and life) perspective…it shows in the quality of his work! Thanks for reading!

Absolutely…he’s one of my favorite filmmakers. His work is very exploratory…lots of delving into the human psyche; full of deep themes, revelatory observations, and beautiful imagery. His stuff is like visual poetry. Definitely get your toes wet by watching Stalker, which was a great film from 1979. If you do, let me know what you think!

Excellent, yes, I see (missed the trailer before).

“… human psyche; full of deep themes, revelatory observations, and beautiful imagery”—sounds great!

Have you watched the new restored version—is it well-done?

I think you’d enjoy it! Set aside a few quiet hours to fully contemplate it. The Criterion Collection was behind the re-release (in my opinion, they’re the best distributors of classic films), and from what I’ve heard, it’s a fantastic digital restoration. I wish that it would’ve played in the theaters near me…that would’ve been an experience to see it on the big screen. I’ll grab the DVD at some point.

Glad you did! Let me know what you think if you get around to it. You’re very welcome…any time 🙂
