Friendship is a word that should be seldom used,
reserved for those spirits that manage to touch every layer of our
heart and mind,
reserved for those who have earned passage into our thoughts,
those souls that bind with us and live with us always-
friendship is a bond very much like family,
unbreakable despite time and distance and circumstance
that allows us the freedom to explore the world from
the safety of a different mind’s perspective,
while highlighting the importance of our own special place-
a good friend will ignite the fires of adventure and rally
our aspirations into action…
a good friend nourishes, understands, and inspires, and as a result,
mirrors our own values and virtues,
a window open to the air of generosity,
a spark that allows us to see the depth of our own capabilities-
friendship is a word that should be seldom used,
reserved for those spirits that touch us, bind with us, and have
earned passage into our thoughts-
true friendship knows no time, distance, or circumstance…
true friendship is a gift*

Coming Soon to a Window Near You

Happiness; among the most sought after of all emotions.
To be happy is the goal of every face on earth- the idea of
feeling enriched, uplifted, and spiritually full- the idea of realizing
order and balance. Happiness is tailor made; different for everyone,
but all fueled from the same source- the energy within.
Ignite it, fuel it, and watch it grow.

It’s out there waiting – it’s inside waiting, and it’s up to each one of
us to seek it out and give it wings.

Go find you. Go Find Happy.

Words were meant to be spoken, not to be
concealed,
thoughts meant to be expressed, not frozen in the
heart-
feelings were meant to be conveyed and displayed,
not shackled away and stowed,
love meant to be given, not swept into the shadows-
shine a light on what matters and see it for what it
is-
they are not anchors, but sails…
give meaning to those words,
action to those thoughts,
purpose to those feelings,
and passion to that love*

Red robins sing their tune into the haze of the
June afternoon,
making way for cool August nights,
sweet like zinfandel grapes-
notes of jazz swirl heavily in shades of blue
and dance into the mystery of the stars…
stars so bright, sparkling on a crescent lake
in autumn,
their light muted by the ripples of steady laughter-
seven songs played in the blink of an eye…
where does time go?*

Beyond the drudge of keyboard clicks and
ringing telephones comes the sound of laughter in my
ears,
floating through like an echo, growing louder and louder as I close my eyes
to dream….
the smell of sun caressed skin,
a smile spread on happy lips kissed by summer,
a dimple to soak up the shade,
and outstretched arms awaiting like the open door
to home,
the scent of love as flavorful as dinner waiting on the table-
a dream as real as the smile on my face*

Life can and will throw challenges faster than rogue
flashes in a storm-
some words burrow deep like earthworms
through soft earth,
and though these things may rattle you,
you cannot let them derail you-
though these things may shake you,
you must refuse to let them dislodge you-
brush them off like old dust-
clouds dissipate to reveal a thicket of stars…
a roadmap meant to be followed-
blaze the trail set before you and soar high
above the struggles below…
when you know your worth, all that can touch
you is peace*

A man mounted a horse one day,
a man full of fear…
fear of the power that the beast held within,
fear of the speed that the animal was capable of,
and a fear of taking the reins and of taking control-
naturally, the horse then assumed responsibility…
he sensed the man’s fear, wrested control, and bucked
the man face first into the dirt-
life is full of parallels—
take a back seat, and someone else has to
take the wheel-
having a bad day does not mean that you have to
become the bad day,
just as being angry does not mean that you have to become
anger-
lose control, and that bad day will become a bad few days,
which will in turn develop into a bad week, which will
create a bad month, all of which could potentially morph into a bad
year-
you’ll look in the mirror one morning and realize that you’ve
become one very big bad day-
hate Mondays? Every day will be a dreaded Monday if you allow
that dreaded mentality to grow into your bones-
you will, just like in the old cartoons, become a tiny ball of ice
rolling down a hill, catching speed and gaining snow along the
way, rapidly rolling into a massive snowball speeding down a hill,
enveloping everything and everyone around it…
it’s about preventing that bad day from speaking your name and
defining you-
you hit those closest to you and suck them into that frosty tomb
unwittingly—
it’s ok to be angry…just don’t become anger-
it’s alright to be disappointed, as long as you don’t personify
disappointment-
it’s ok to feel…
just ensure that you remain in control of those feelings-
wrest control of your hours, your days, your weeks…
wrest control of your emotions and remind yourself
of where and who you are, and where you’re going…
and most of all, just how you’ll get there-
be the rider that grabs the reins and soaks up the wind
at full gallop*

Spirits rise and fall like the empires of old,
but salted earth eventually bears fruit-
spirits may fall heavily like the trunks of felled trees,
but will rise again like the delicacy of spring green-
today, I am stronger—
today, I am more powerful than doubt,
today, I am faster than fear,
today, I am wiser than jealousy,
or failure,
or worry,
today, I am far above anxiety,
timidity, or any ill that creeps silently into the
psyche under the cover of night like a shadow-
there may often be no gas left in the tank,
but there are still wheels on the car…
keep on pushing until you reach your point B.
