Quotes from the Vault – Full.

We’ve all heard flight attendants give the instruction a million times…”In the event of catastrophe, place the oxygen mask on yourself before you assist others.”  It makes sense.  How many of us ensure that we’re nourished first…so that we can adequately provide care for others?  Self neglect can be amazingly detrimental for not only us, but for those around us.  Think about it.  Let’s make sure that we give ourselves the love that we need.

Some spaces try do a lot with a little, while others attempt to accomplish the minimal…and end up over doing it.  Others meet that fine balance at the halfway mark.  I’d like to think that this week’s space is up to the task of achieving that desired balance.  Clean lines meet warm comfort, and that sweet spot is complemented gently by a quaint little fire and just enough open window to give the owners a perfect glimpse of winter.  Serve me up a cup of coffee and I’m there.  Let the daydreams commence.

Light your fire, grab your coffee (or wine), snag your book…and cozy up to the warmth of this week’s great wintry space.

Storytime Saturday, featuring an excerpt from an as yet unnamed tale.

Grab a drink, post up in a chair, and take a few minutes to dig into this little story snippet.  Thanks for reading; let me know what you think.  Stay creative.

At long last, it appeared as though they were nearing their destination; the deeper they got, the more the forest seemed to close in tightly around them, and the unmistakable rustle of the oversized jungle leaves grew nearer. Up ahead, the driver finally made the decision to ease up on the gas, and the bus began to slow its pace as the road began to narrow. His heart began to race at the anticipation of what existed outside the comfort of the bus, and as this was his first international assignment, he was eager to get his feet wet and explore.
The bus’ brakes began to squeal loudly as it came to a slow stop. They were approaching a large clearing, surrounded by the intensely rich green of the surrounding jungle. The air began to surge in through the windows, and with a shudder, the bus came to a complete halt. He glanced around the bus, and all within were hurriedly gathering themselves and their belongings, stretching tired bodies and sleeping limbs from such a long journey. She was collecting her bag, and running her fingers through her wind tousled hair; she wore a green jacket that hugged her body just right, and she pulled on a well-worn cap that rested comfortably over her eyes.

Ok, so this room isn’t 100% my perfectly brewed cup of tea, but it is important to highlight the qualities and characteristics of different spaces.  This week’s selection is definitely of the old, almost baroque style; heavy, ornate wood, lots of gold and shiny little accents and accouterments, and an overall density and stout robustness that screams quality craftsmanship.  So it’s a solid room, to say the least, reminiscent of the smoking/card playing rooms that appear in the classic movies.  And hey, it’s chock full of books and a sweet spiral staircase.  It doesn’t get much better than that.  Let the daydreams commence.

Today’s selection is a SnowPorn pick on steroids; a quaint little space smack dab in the middle of a mountain.  What’s not to love?  If you’re an admirer of snowy solitude and the peaceful benefits that it provides, then this is your place…you can’t get more remote than this.  Clean lines and large windows…ample sunlight, and a bold, boss view looking right out into the depths of this wintry expanse.  Throw in some coffee and I’m golden.  Let the daydreams commence.
