Meet me where the blue sky ends,
where the tree line tumbles into the arms
of tomorrow-
meet me where the citrus sun kisses the
earth on its slow retreat,
the blue place where the moon yawns and
rises each night from its slumber-
meet me at the point of imagination,
the spot where wonder blends with
awe,
where there is no beginning,
no end…
meet me at the point where all things
are possible,
those beautiful coordinates that
tie all paths together-
lose yourself with me on those roads-
meet me where the sky ends…
walk beside me on that trail,
and let us tumble together into the
arms of tomorrow*

I can’t help but drift off into daydream when I
spot a plane in the sky-
maybe it’s the child in me,
still stuffed full of wonder and awe as it glints off the
sun like an afternoon star-
I wonder then, of the lives above us,
bound for the winds of everywhere…
some eager,
some pained,
many excited, nervous, or afraid,
journeys and endings, departures and destinations…
I wonder what they’re thinking as they’re looking down upon us,
or if they’re wondering what I’m thinking while looking up,
and if our thoughts ever somehow intersect in the middle*

I saw the face of the clock in the sky
behind me,
footprints of time ticking in strokes of blue-
like a second hand, I turned toward it,
and dove headlong into its endless waves*

I lifted the leaf from the ground one cold October day,
a gift for you-
just an ordinary leaf
made beautiful by the deep blush of autumn that it wore proudly on its delicate skin-
just a quick splash of red on a canvas so hungry for color,
a single five pointed bouquet veined with the spirit of another life-
I was reminded on that day that
beauty lives in the steady breaths of the sky,
its mists ever painted in swirling silver…
we’ve got to see it in order to feel it,
we have to feel it in order to live it-
I found it that day on the arms of a brittle crimson star,
an uncommon reminder of the things that we often forget…
just an ordinary gift to you on an ordinary October day,
a reminder to keep your eyes open, your senses fresh,
and your heart ever ready*

One for the moon and two for the stars,
lips bound under the cover of dark winter skies-
they winked at us in a thatch of blue,
as our breath spilled into the world in a frozen
hush*
